Movado Farms, Inc. Trainers of Champions
Bobby Blumenthal (Instructor/Trainer) – Bobby has been with Movado Farms for over 25 years. A trainer who values partnership and connection with the horses he works with, Bobby had a successful junior show career with ponies, equitation, hunters and jumpers. Bobby’s warm sense of humor is reflected in his teaching style and his attention to detail allows him to bring out the best in the teams he works with. Bobby strives to instill in each of his students patience and a clear understanding of the unique relationship between horse and rider. Bobby’s specialty is his ability to train both green and made horses to develop a balanced, elastic canter; a good lead change; and solid jumping skills. When Bobby is not working with horses and his students, he enjoys a successful career as a hair and make-up artist and has worked in television, film, and on Broadway for fashion and theatrical productions.
Most recently, Tricia and co-owner/trainer Louisa Fedora began a Movado farm IEA team and one of their riders ranked nationally at the IEA finals. When not working with horses and riders, Tricia enjoys art and is an avid agility enthusiast with her dogs.
Tricia Carlton (owner/trainer) has enjoyed a life long career in the equestrian world. She holds a B.S. in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University and her love of the teaching and the learning process permeates all that she does. Tricia has been a co-owner/trainer at Movado since 1980 and her approach to lessons and training centers around positive reinforcement and creating a great relationship between horse and rider.
One of Tricia’s many strengths is bringing young riders and horses along to make them competitive on the local, and national scene as a result of her ability to match horse and rider to create a cohesive team. To that end, Tricia has schooled, trained and ridden horses throughout Europe and Canada, and her students have achieved such honors as year end awards from the CHSA, CHJA, NEHC, and USEF. Tricia is especially proud of her students’ consistent success in the state finals. An accomplished rider herself, Tricia has been nationally recognized and was a zone 1 Silver Stirrup award winner. Tricia has ridden with Peter Leone, Frank Madden, George Morris, Michael Page, Francesca Marcella, Ian Silage, and Bill Cooney.
Louisa Fedora (owner/trainer) founded Movado Farms in 1974 and her patience and attention to detail shows in everything we do here. Louisa’s instruction in equitation is second to none and the foundational horsemanship skills her students learn under her tutelage yield successful, long term proven results. A trainer of exceptional patience, Louisa takes tremendous pride in helping her students to achieve their goals.
Louisa is an active member of the Connecticut Horse Show Association; the Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association; the United States Equestrian Federation; New England Horse Council and the Professional Horseman’s Association. Both Louisa’s students and the horses from her breeding program have excelled in state, regional and national competition. Well respected amongst her peers, Louisa is a frequent participant in training clinics along the east coast.
Louisa was the recipient of several trainers awards and her students and horses won the NEHC, CHJA, CHSA and USEF Year End Champion and Reserve Awards in ponies, children and adult divisions.
In addition to her accomplishments in the horse show ring, Louisa was the head costumer at Long Wharf Theatre, loves showing her dogs in confirmation shows, and making jewelry with the lamp worked beads she creates.
